Workouts always feel a lot more exciting and refreshing in the earlier stages, and if they remain the same you’ll find yourself becoming bored and uninspired by the very same workout that excited you six months earlier. No matter how long you’ve been training, it’s always beneficial to both your mental and physical health to keep adding new ways of enhancing your routine and mixing it up.
Everyone goes to the gym with a target in mind- whether it’s to lose weight, build muscle or even just improve general fitness levels. Keep your mind focussed on your routine and maintain motivation by constantly striving to achieve your target. Remember the reason why you started working out and imagine the changes you want to create and see in yourself. If you feel that your target is too far or too ambitious, break it up into smaller goals that are achievable in smaller time periods. Regularly hitting your goals will really give you the boost and confidence you need to push you up to the next level and before you know it you’ll have achieved your end goal!
Solo workouts have their uses- they can be a great way to just zone off and have some serious you time, you can work at your own speed and to your own levels. The problem is however, is that it can become monotonous for some and you can start to lose your edge. If this is the case, find yourself a gym buddy. Working out in pairs can really push you to go further than you think you can and the friendly competition will keep you on your toes! Your buddy can help you with your technique and even introduce new elements of their workout. Let’s face it, if you lift super heavy on your own there’s no one but yourself to encourage you, but together you can really push each other to succeed and pat each other on the back for such accomplishments.
Hitting the gym can sometimes feel like a chore. For many of us, it’s one of those things we have to do to keep in top shape and it’s always the last place we want to spend our free time! Instead of always making it about the workout, why not incorporate activities that make it a more relaxing reward? Make use of sauna, steam and spa facilities after a tough workout session to really relax and soothe those muscles. It’s a great way to wind down after a gym session and if you’re with a buddy you can both reflect on how much you both just smashed it in the gym! If you think you feel good straight after a workout, wait till you see how good you feel after a workout and a sauna session!
